PSAC Collective Bargaining

Our members are our power

Collective bargaining is done on behalf of the members by the bargaining teams, but it is the members that make the union strong. With over 200,000 members, PSAC members can mobilize to create real change for themselves, and all workers in Canada. When we stand together in solidarity, we are stronger!

Find out more about collective bargaining, and how you can support your bargaining team below!

Treasury Board

Consisting of a Common issues table, and the PA, SV, TC, EB, and FB Bargaining groups, the PSAC represents 123,856 federal public service workers under the Treasury Board of Canada in every province and territory in the country.

Canada Revenue Agency

There are 34,460 members in this bargaining unit, the second largest unit at the PSAC. Our members review and process tax returns, provide tax information services for the public, and intake the billions of dollars of government revenue collected by the CRA. They also run the offices, maintain the equipment and buildings, and carry out the administrative work of the CRA.

Directly Chartered Locals

PSAC now has 70 directly chartered locals (DCLs). Together, these locals represent 30,000 workers covered by 87 negotiated collective agreements.

DCL members work in the private sector, municipal governments, the academic sector and many of other sectors across Canada.

Canadian Food Inspection Agency

Some 4,027 members work at CFIA. They perform a wide variety of jobs, including meat, poultry and produce inspection. They monitor and audit the federally regulated inspection programs of the food industry in Canada and enforce federal laws. Our members at the CFIA also run the offices, maintain the equipment and buildings, and carry out the administrative work of the CFIA.

Parks Canada Agency

PSAC's membership at Parks Canada Agency fluctuates from winter to summer. PSAC members work in architecture, commerce, engineering, finance, forestry, general labour and trades, historical research and program administration. From seasonal workers to office staff, from park wardens to canal workers, members working for Parks Canada help preserve our rich natural heritage.

Canada Post

Some 1,396 PSAC members belong to this bargaining unit. They are responsible for the clerical, financial, engineering, and administrative functioning of the Corporation. These members provide support for all plant, office and technical aspects of the work.

Statistics Survey Operations (SSO)

This unit consists of 1,253 members working in Statistics Canada offices around the country collecting information for national surveys.  They are responsible largely for telephone interviews which collect the raw data that is subsequently used to provide statistics on everything from literacy to consumer expenditures.

RCMP Civilian Members

Civilian members who are pay-matched in the PA, TC, EB and SV classifications will be represented by the Public Service Alliance of Canada and their component, the Union of Safety and Justice Employees, when they're deemed into the federal public service.

NAV CANADA

Some 215 PSAC members at NAV CANADA work in locations across the country including headquarters, regional offices, area control centres (ACCs), and logistics and technical centres. Our members perform various tasks such as administrative services, clerical and regulatory services, secretarial services, data processing, data and illustration, education, engineering and scientific support, trades and information services, program administration, and general services.
